A windbird is circling high above a peaceful, majestic view, an idyllic scene marred by a dead man with a pair of scissors in his shoulder. Who wanted Kurt Lamberg dead? What possible motive would someone have for getting rid of a worker in a company that makes kites? Retired police officer John Hawk returns to answer those questions. His investigations lead him back and forth across the "Sauerland". He succeeds in painting a picture of a dead man, who apparently had lead a double life.
But just as "The Hawk" believes he has solved the case, another body turns up.
